These rezoning application are different than most in that they were all based on standardized forms pre-approved by city council in an attempt to address Vancouver’s housing affordability, and availability crisis. While no one would claim that the Cambie Corridor’s townhome zones have proven to be the answer, it’s hoped the Secured Rental Policy’s rental rezoning areas will have better luck. Whatever the result, this version of our city council vote tracker will capture it with this new format.
It accounts for the fact that the home counts of these prescribed designs are determined at the more detailed Development Application stage, after their fate is decided by our elected officials. With several different forms, ranging from townhomes, to four, five, and even six story buildings, Hannah and I created this second counter in order to provide an accurate, and easy to read tally.
Ultimately we hope you enjoy seeing which councillors align with your values, and maybe even whether your own home deserved a place in our city.
