This wasn’t a particularly fun year to revisit for Hannah and I, and even our Development Approval Timeline And Progress Report couldn’t escape the disruption it brought. While there were far fewer proposals in total, several blocks along the Cambie Corridor continued to see activity at the time. Yet many never made it to the development application stage, which mirrored a city-wide trend, and others have been significantly delayed due to reasons beyond anyone’s control.

The spreadsheet below includes the details, and timeline for every rezoning application for this timeframe from when it was first submitted to when it was ready for occupancy. This includes all notable dates in the rezoning, development application, and the building permit stage, along with details about what each project sought to provide. Obviously we note when/if something was rejected or withdrawn too.
Each of these steps represents a negotiation between our city officials, as well as private, and/or public developers. As such, the review process can grind to a halt simply because an applicant team is unable, or unwilling to move ahead with their vision at that point in time.

It’s also important to note that the city’s switch from the old application website to the Shape Your City page in 2020 means the approval dates for some development applications have been permanently lost, and we’ve done our best to work around that. The addresses, and permit numbers have all been hot-linked, so if you click on them, it’ll take you either to the Shape Your City page or an archived version of the City off Vancouver’s former website.
