Whether you’re curious about the amount of homes, daycare spaces, hotel rooms, or office space that has been approved by Vancouver City Council since 2022, once again Hannah and I have your answer. Our volunteer work should be easier this term, as this council is controlled by an ABC super majority large enough to decide whether to sell city-owned lands. However, time will tell whether our expectation of shorter debates, and less fragmented votes will hold out.
To keep things simple, we’ve opted to exclude simple matters, like text amendments that correct small spelling, and grammar errors, or heritage conservation proposals. However, we’ve created a separate page for streamlined projects, like those under the Secured Rental Policy, or the Cambie Corridor Plan’s townhome applications, as they don’t provide home counts at this stage. Similarly, major projects will continue to be excluded from the total, and instead just noted, as they are often phased in over many years.
Ultimately we hope you enjoy seeing which councillors align with your values, and for that matter whether they thought the place you work, your favourite restaurant, place to shop, or even your own home deserved a place in our city.
