No rest for City Duo Next Week! Major Opportunities for Community Participation Across Vancouver

It is not often we have an entire week full of opportunities for community participation (many on the same day!). As the event page can become overwhelming, we thought we would do a quick recap of the week to come.

Rezoning Open House Events

610 – 644 Kingsway
March 14th 5pm – 7pm @ 612 West Kingsway
The proposal is for a 6-storey mixed-use building, consisting of:
— Commercial use at grade;
— A total of 53 secured market rental units

750 Pacific Boulevard – (NEFC sub-area 6B — Plaza of Nations) 
5pm – 8pm March 15th @ Enterprise Hall, Plaza of Nations – 760 Pacific Boulevard
The proposal is to rezone and develop the 10.28-acre site into a mixed-use development based on the Northeast False Creek Refined Area Plan, including:
— A variety of terracing buildings up to 30 storeys;
— Commercial and Residential uses;
— Social housing;
— Civic facilities, including a community centre, ice rink, music presentation centre and a 69-space childcare facility; and
— A new community plaza and seawall

Development Application Open House Events

3133 West Broadway 
March 15th 4:30 Pm – 7:30 PM @ St. James Community Centre Hall, 3214 West 10th Avenue
A new 6-storey, mixed-use building with a restoration of the adjoining existing theatre building. The proposal includes the following:
— 40 market strata dwelling units;
— New retail units at grade with a floor space area of 411 m² (4,423 sq.ft.);

This is an opportunity to drop in at our storefront, see the highlights of the plan, and talk with planning staff. The space is small, but there are numerous times available to make sure we can have one-on-one discussions.

The changes would allow for rowhouses/townhouses, 4-story apartments, and 4-storey mixed-use in specified areas.Join us at an open house to learn more about the proposed zone changes.

Join us at our third round of public consultation to review the preferred concept plan and emerging policies. Following these events, staff will draft the Policy Statement which will set principles and objectives for land use, site character, sustainability, heritage, transportation, density and building heights, and public benefits.

Millennium Line Broadway Extension (Broadway Subway)

— March 10th 10am – 2am
— March 14th 4pm – 7pm
The City of Vancouver is developing Principles and Strategies that will be considered for the design and construction of the Millennium Line Broadway Extension (aka the “Broadway Subway”), a tunneled extension of the SkyTrain along the Broadway Corridor from VCC–Clark Station to Arbutus Street.
